Private Residence - North Creek, NY

Tucked into the hamlet of North Creek, NY, this Arts & Crafts home is a renovation of an early 20th century farmhouse with all the requirements of modern living. Located on a pristine parcel of 100 acres, this 1,700 sqft, four bedroom, two bath jewel incorporates several characteristics of classic Adirondack architecture, including exposed rafter tails, three-tab shingles, and carved porch posts with western red cedar shakes.

Locally harvested Douglas fir lines the walls and ceilings, including built-in benches, bookcases, desks, bed plaforms, headboards, shelving, and closets custom-made by master carpenters. The house features treasures around every corner, including a red spiral staircase leading to a private loft, a colorful fireplace made of native ledge stone, soapstone countertops in a cork-floored kitchen, and a screened-in, flagstone patio that expands the living space.

An Arts & Crafts garage stands a short distance from the house. In addition to locally harvested materials, sustainable elements of the renovation include completely new energy efficient windows and new wall and attic insulation.

“The team has truly done a great job in executing this challenging project. I cannot imagine someone I would be happier working with or who would do a better job.”
