This project involved building an addition for the Cap and Gown Club, a historic eating club at Princeton University. The one story addition is 3,329 sqft and includes a basement for club storage. Designed by Farewell Architects, the Cox Wing features an open concept floor plan that serves as a flexible space to be used for club events, as well as an extended space for students to study and relax.

The room is equipped with six NanaWall glass door systems that fold up to transform the space into an open-air pavilion, opening onto new patio areas on the North and South sides of the building. Bluestone pavers line the entire first floor, which is encompassed by wood beams, painted Boral beadboard and trim, and an acoustical wood slat ceiling. The addition also features a beautiful custom gas fireplace that ties in with the existing historic building elements, as well as decorative light fixtures.

The structure of the addition was built with an Insulated Concrete Form (ICF) System. The exterior façade consists of cast stone masonry block with accentuating plains and brickwork that complements the brick facade of the existing historic club. The roof consists of a blue slate roofing system that enhances the various architectural elements of the addition.

“I am writing to personally thank C. Raymond Davis for the quality service and work provided during the construction of our new Cox Wing addition…Your team was diligent in addressing our concerns and imaginative in proposing alternative solutions. In the end, a beautiful project was the result—especially because of the craftsmanship provided by C. Raymond Davis.
